THE ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEXT WEEK’S READINGS . . . Deut. 26:1-11; 2 Cor 9:6-15; Luke 12:13-21.

ABOUT THIS WEEK’S READINGS . . . Behold, with the clouds of heaven there came One like a Son of Man (Dan. 7:13). The Lord Jesus will return in glory on the Last Day with all His holy angels. Before Him will be gathered all the nations . . . And He will place the sheep on His right, but the goats on the left (Matt. 25:3–33). Those on His left will be cast into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For they rejected Christ by failing to receive and support His brethren, that is, the preachers of the Gospel. But those on His right will inherit the kingdom prepared for them from the foundation of the world. For they received and supported His brethren and believed what they preached. We believe in the promise of Christ’s coming, even it is delayed because of His longsuffering mercy. Conducting ourselves in godliness, knowing that this fallen creation will soon pass away, we look forward to new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells (2 Peter 3:13).

THOUGHTS ABOUT STEWARDSHIP . . . Philippians 1:3–5, “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” God doesn’t need anything we have. Yet He invites us to give so that we can indeed become “partners in the Gospel.” This is a gift of His grace: inviting us to do significant work in the Kingdom of God through our tithes and offerings.

ALTAR FLOWERS . . . are given by the Roger and Wanda Long on the occasion of their 69th wedding anniversary.

BI-MONTHLY MISSION . . . is Sunday, December 3, and will be going toward the Angel Tree. An envelope designated for Angel Tree will be placed in your mailbox. You can place cash or check payable to Immanuel in this envelope and place it in the offering or return it to the church office on or before December 3. Thank you for your generosity in helping area children receive a few gifts under the Christmas Tree.

BIBLE HISTORY CLASS . . . Because of Advent services, there will be no Wednesday evening Bible History class November 22 through January 3. Bible History class will resume on Wednesday, January 10, 2024

BOARD OF MISSIONS & EVANGELISM . . . will be selling our church cookbooks again this Holiday season.  They are $15 each.  See one of the Board members:  Terra Waldrop, Lauren Braaten, Ann Carroll, Sue Rothe, Linda Brewer or Deborah Reifsteck.

CHRISTMAS DECORATING . . . Saturday, December 9, 9:00 am. The Christmas season is near! With it come the sights, the sounds, and the fellowship that unite Christians as we anticipate the birth of our Savior. Come on December 9 to help put up the Christmas trees and decorations that beautify Immanuel. There will be decorating for the kids, too! Come and enjoy Christmas music, coffee, hot chocolate, juice, and doughnuts.

TAMA Thanksgiving Service . . . is Sunday, November 19, at Faith Baptist Church on Northline Road.  Tony Couch, Pastor at First Christian Church will be preaching.  Refreshments and snacks will be provided following the service.

THANK YOU. . . for your generous donation and support of the Lutheran High School Fundraiser at St. John Lutheran Church and School, Mattoon.  Ryan Eckhardt & The Eckhardt Financial Group

THE 2024 FLOWER CHART IS NOW AVAILABLE . . . Please sign up on the bulletin board across from member mailboxes. Flowers will be $35.00 again in 2024 and can be special ordered. Flowers can be taken home after the Sunday’s service.
