Come hear good news.
Whether you’ve attended church your whole life, have been away for years, or are simply curious about Christianity, you’re welcome at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tuscola.
Here, Jesus Christ gathers His people to receive His gifts: His Word, forgiveness, and His body and blood. Bring your questions. Come and listen. We would be glad to meet you.

Ask Pastor a Question
What should I expect?
Our worship follows a historic Christian pattern of Scripture readings, prayer, hymns, preaching, and Holy Communion. We call this the Divine Service because God serves us with His gifts, and we respond with prayer, praise, and thanksgiving.
You’ll hear about real sin and a real Savior: Jesus Christ, crucified and risen for you.
If this kind of worship is unfamiliar, you don’t need to understand everything before coming. Listen, follow along as you’re able, and ask questions afterward.
What should I wear?
You don’t need special clothes to visit. Come dressed comfortably and respectfully for worship.
Can I bring my children?
Yes. Children are welcome in worship. They learn by hearing, watching, and participating—even when that includes some movement and noise.
Parents, you are welcome here with your children.
What about Holy Communion?
You are welcome to join us for worship—to hear God’s Word, sing, and pray—even if you are unfamiliar with Christianity or do not share our beliefs.
At Immanuel, we confess that Jesus gives us His true body and blood in Holy Communion for the forgiveness of sins. Receiving Communion together also expresses our unity in what we believe and confess.
Because this gift calls for faith, instruction, and a shared confession, we practice closed communion. We ordinarily commune members of congregations of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and churches in fellowship with us.
If you wish to receive Communion, please speak with Pastor Braaten before the service, including if you are visiting from another LCMS congregation. He will be glad to meet you, answer your questions, and explain our practice.
If you do not commune, you are still welcome here. We would be glad to have you worship with us, come forward for a blessing during the distribution (indicated by crossing both arms across the chest) and learn more about Jesus Christ.
Is there an opportunity to learn more?
Sunday Bible Class — 8:00 AM
Bring your questions and join us as we study God’s Word.
Sunday School — 8:00 AM, September–May
Children learn the Bible and the good news of Jesus Christ.
If you’re exploring Christianity or considering membership, Pastor Braaten would be glad to talk with you about what we believe and how to learn more.
Want to talk before you come?
You don’t need an appointment or registration to attend worship. But if a conversation beforehand would help, please get in touch.
