THE ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEXT WEEK’S READINGS . . . Isaiah 40:25–31; 1 Peter 2:11–20; John 16:16–22.

ABOUT THIS WEEK’S READINGS . . . Our Lord Jesus is the Good Shepherd (John 10:11–16). He is not like the hireling, who cares nothing for the sheep and only for himself, who flees when he sees the wolf coming. Rather, Jesus is the Good Shepherd who seeks out His scattered sheep to deliver them (Ezek. 34:11–16). He gathers them and feeds them in rich pasture. He binds up the broken and strengthens the sick. He lays down His life for wandering and wayward sheep. On the cross, Christ bore in His body the attacks of the predators of sin and death and the devil for you that you might be saved. He now lives to restore your soul in the still waters of baptism, to lead you in the paths of righteousness by the voice of His Gospel, to prepare the table of His holy supper before you, that you may dwell in the house of the Lord forever (Psalm 23). “For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls” (1 Peter 2:25).

THOUGHTS ABOUT STEWARDSHIP . . . John 10:16 “And I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice.” The sheep know the Shepherd’s voice—and we delight to go where He leads. Of course, the world, the devil, and our own sinful flesh want to pull us in another direction. But following the Shepherd means life, and everything is of death. So no matter how difficult the path is that the Shepherd points out: let us follow Him!

THE ALTAR FLOWERS . . . were given by Bob & Joan Vukelich to the glory of God for their 33 years of a blessed anniversary.

PASTOR WILL BE AWAY . . . April 11—13 attending the Central Illinois District Spring Pastors’ Conference. If you need assistance you may contact him on his mobile phone or call one of the Elders (Ronald Legg, Greg Nau, Bryce Reifsteck, Mark Whitson).

ST. PAUL’S LUTHERAN CHURCH . . . will be having their Annual Ham Dinner today (Sunday, April 10) following their 10 am worship service, serving from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. A free will offering will be taken for Coles County Search & Rescue. St. Paul’s is located 2 miles east of Dorans.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE ILC COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP . . . sponsored by the Board of Mission and Evangelism are now being accepted. The deadline is May 1, 2016. Applications are available on the church Web site: immanueltuscola.org.

CAMP CILCA SCHOLARSHIP . . . The Board of Mission and Evangelism is offering a scholarship for anyone who wants to attend Camp CILCA. Camp CILCA Summer 2016 brochures can be found on the table across from member mailboxes. Please notify Pastor Braaten or Tammy Kresin of your interest.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO MAKE CHILI . . . Tuscola Area Ministerial Alliance (TAMA) will be hosting a National Day of Prayer service on Thursday, May 5, 12:00 PM (noon), at 40 Martyrs. It will begin with a 30-minute service followed by lunch. Immanuel has been asked to provide 3 large pots of chili. If you would be willing to help, please let Leigh Ann Whitson know (immanuel.tuscola@gmail.com or 2172534341). Thank you!
