Lucille Oye, age 87 and a long time resident of Tuscola, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 6, 2017 in her apartment at the Village at Victory Lakes in Lindenhurst, Illinois.  Lucille was born in Easton, Illinois in 1929, the daughter of Henry and Lucy Pfeiffer.

Lucille was proud to be a Registered Nurse since her graduation from the Walther Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Chicago, IL in 1950, and loved working as the School Nurse of the Tuscola Community School District from 1967 until her retirement in 2005. She enjoyed family and friends, playing bridge, entertaining company in her beautiful rural home in Tuscola, and was a wonderful cook. She was a longtime member of the Tuscola Women’s Club.

In 1952 she married her loving husband, Robert Oye, who preceded her in death in 1985.  She is survived by two children, son Jon (Jane) Oye of Waukegan, Illinois and daughter Lauri (Jerry) Rizzo of Green Oaks, Illinois; three grandchildren, Matthew, Abigail, and Andrew; one sister Helen (Roger) Koke; and many nieces and nephews.

Lucille had an unwavering faith in God, and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tuscola for more than 50 years.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 8 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, Tuscola; Funeral service will be Monday, January 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Tuscola, with graveside service immediately following at the Tuscola Cemetery.  Following the burial, a funeral luncheon will be provided for family and friends at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
