Steven G. Leonard, 63, passed away at 11:00 p.m., Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Carle Hospital, Urbana, IL

Steve was born in Tuscola to George and Betty Rahn Leonard on July 31, 1951. He graduated from Tuscola Community High School in 1969 and then attended Eastern Illinois University and Northeast Missouri State. He was married to Pam McCormick in 1987 and together they had three children: Samuel (Kelsey) Leonard, Jack Leonard and Marnie Leonard all of Tuscola.

He was employed by S & K/ Air Power in Mattoon from 1974 to the present, working in many capacities, and was currently vice president of operations.

Steve enjoyed sports at all levels and was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal and Illini sports fan.  While in high school, he participated and excelled in all sports.  He later became involved in fast pitch softball and was a member of the 1978 Men’s Class A Fast Pitch National Championship Team.  Steve is a current nominee for the Illinois Softball Hall of Fame.

He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War.

Steve is survived by his children, mother: Betty Leonard of Tuscola, sister: Linda Brewer of Tuscola and his faithful dog: Ted.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, January 26, 2015 at the Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home, 705 South Main Street, Tuscola, IL

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 600 East Northline Road, Tuscola, IL with Rev. Jason Braaten officiating. Burial will be in the Tuscola Township Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church or to the donor’s choice.
